AUGUST 13 IS INTERNATIONAL LEFT HANDERS' DAY

The left hand is the hand of the heart !- an Italian proverb
Today, August 13 is  International Lefthanders Day. It was first observed on 13 August 1976. International Lefthanders day is held to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left handers in a predominantly right handed world. It's also a day to celebrate lefthanders' uniqueness and difference, who form 7% to 10%  of the world's population.

I came across this T-shirt with this simple affirmation and I just had to take a picture. Saw this T-shirt at a shop in Avenues Mall.

WALKING FOR EXERCISE

Walking is a great exercise that benefits people of all ages. If weather permits, there's nothing like walking for an hour or more outside. Summer weather is severely hot during day time and fluctuates these days between 45 and 47 degrees in the evenings. However, walking for an hour is something possible in the evenings after sunset. Most of the days, there is warm breeze and in a few days, one would get used to the  evening weather. It's impossible to walk if the weather is humid or even dusty. Unthinkable actually!

I have blogged in my past posts about walking inside the malls in Kuwait for exercise. I enjoy walking inside the 360 Mall and Avenues Mall. The other day, for the first time, my husband and I took a short walk outside the 360 Mall around 8pm and explored the outer premises which I admire each time we  pass by before driving into the car park. The weather was absolutely fine with warm, yet pleasant breeze.  The outer premises is vast and comfortable to walk with lots of date palm trees, water bodies, fountains and greenery all around. The best part being the sounds of water flowing in all the surrounding fountains, which are in plenty. It gives you a feeling as if you are near some water fall. The landscape on the outside of 360 Mall is serene and something to experience and enjoy. Oh..and those who love taking pictures, the outside of the Mall will make a photographer's delight in the evenings.

Apart from walking inside the 360 Mall, during a pleasant evening, why not walk outside the 360 Mall, for a two in one experience - enjoy the beautiful outer landscape and get your exercise. Wherever you chose to walk, the important thing is getting sufficient exercise.

Here are some pictures taken outside the 360 Mall.

NO TO DISCRIMINATION

Have you faced discriminatory treatment at office, in the society, at home due to partiality and favouritism? Partiality is favourable prejudice or bias. It is done conciously. Partiality prevents objective consideration of an issue or situation. Partiality leads to discrimination and oppression. Would you keep silent if you were treated with unfair bias compared to another person?. If you are affected negatively or adversely due to bias or discrimination, express yourself and let your views be known. You cannot prevent all the unfairness that goes around, but atleast you would have made your point, expressed your rights,  by speaking for yourself, which may incite a positive change or response.
