MATT LAMB 'PAINT AN UMBRELLA FOR PEACE' PROJECT AT AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF KUWAIT

On Thursday, when we attended 'Works of Matt Lamb' Art Exhibition at American University of Kuwait, I was quite impressed by the huge amount of umbrellas artistically painted by students and visitors as a part of 'Umbrellas for Peace' project that was displayed at the Liberal Arts building. Each umbrella that was painted looked special. Painting on umbrellas represented bringing people together and spreading world peace.

According to Matt Lamb, the umbrella is a metaphor for protection. It's devoid of any discrimination and anyone irrespective of age, race, gender or country is safe under the umbrella. The top part of the umbrella stands for shelter with our hopes, dreams and aspirations and the underneath part stands for our concerns and fears. 'Umbrellas for Peace' project encourages people to spread the value of world peace, hope, love and creativity through art. Here are some pictures of the 'Umbrellas for Peace' project at American University of Kuwait.

WORKS OF MATT LAMB - ART EXHIBITION AT AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF KUWAIT

Matt Lamb
On Thursday evening, we visited the art exhibition by Matt Lamb at the American University of Kuwait, Salmiyah Campus. The exhibition featured 60 paintings by Matt Lamb that were unique and I quite liked the abstract work by him and the blend and use of colours in his paintings.

Along with the exhibition, in an effort to promote world wide peace, Matt Lamb Umbrellas for Peace project was held at the American University of Kuwait, that involved students and those interested to paint an umbrella with their concept of world peace. Check my next post to view the photos of the beautiful peace umbrellas there were painted.

Matt Lamb self taught artist, scuptor, philosopher and peace activist,  is an  Irish-American born in Chicago in 1932, who had a successful career as an entrepreneur before a brush with death at the age of 51 led him to reevaluate his priorities, sell his businesses, and dedicate his life to art.

WEIGHT LOSS - TEN THINGS THAT KEEP YOU FROM ATTAINING IDEAL BODY WEIGHT

Dian Griesel, PhD and her brother Tom Griesel spent 30 years working with scientific researchers, experimenting with various diets, and found interesting facts that stop people from maintaining their diets to reach an ideal body weight. Dian Griesel and Tom Griesel are co authors of TUBRO CHARGED, a book that contains ground breaking concepts that defy common weight thinking. “The best of diet intentions fail in late afternoon and evening because dieters fall for certain traps that sabotage success,” Dr. Griesel said. According to them, there are 10 things that prevent one from attaining an ideal body weight.

1. Traditional diet and exercise advice that is all wrong.
2. Motivation that is misdirected. The choice needs to be: Which do I value more? A chocolate bar now or a longer and healthier life with my family?
3. Eating when we are really thirsty.
4. Burning the candle too late, is counter productive to fat burning. A good night”s sleep burns fat and keeps us from eating.
5. Dieting and aerobic exercising together reduce calories, so primitive starvation-survival mechanisms kick in making the brain scream for food.
6. Boredom.
7. Hanging out with an overeating, unimaginative crowd.
8. Manufacturers make foods addictive by using sugar/fat/salt combos.
9. Manufacturers make foods addictive with chemicals and preservatives.
10. Commercials could make anyone hungry.

The book TURBO CHARGED highlights eight simple steps that  accelerates fat burning mechanism leading to rapid fat loss  in shorter time to attain a lean body with the promise of greater health benefits, regardless of your age or present body fat by  showing how to avoid common diet traps that are making you fat.
