WHAT NOURISHES ME ALSO DESTROYS ME

Do you know what is this picture below? It's a Tatoo in Latin on the lower abdomen of Angelina Jolie, that reads 'Quod me nutrit, me destruit'. When translated, it means, 'What nourishes me, also destroys me'. Make sense?. I think it has a deep meaning. One could decipher it as -  food is for nourishment,  but if you overeat or eat unhealthy food, it can actually destroy you. Too much of anything can lead to a negative impact! Now conversely, anorexics and buleimics want to remain skinny and refuse to eat or eat so little because they fear food would make them fat. Now this can also be a popular quote for those who starve to remain thin, which ofcourse is a very unhealthy thing. I feel food is for nourishment in healthy, reasonable, balanced and managed amounts!

Now this is just one tatoo among a whole lot of tatoos Angelina Jolie has on her, which have significant meaning.

MINNIE MOUSE

Before I went for my walk last evening at Marina Waterfront, I had to pass through Marina Mall and I noticed something nice...or rather someone cute and certainly someone children would be excited to meet. Now who was this surprise character? Well, it was Minnie Mouse (Mickey Mouse's girlfriend) standing right outside the Mother Care outlet. Mickey Mouse was not to be seen. Maybe he was busy and couldn't make it. I wouldn't know if he dropped in later on. Minnie Mouse was there as a part of  'MOTHER CARE' outlet promotion. I saw kids running towards Minnie Mouse, referring to 'her' as 'Mickey Mouse',  shaking hands or hugging or taking a photo. Minnie Mouse posed for me and here are some pictures.

AL HAMRA TOWER LIGHT SHOW

There was a beautiful light show yesterday evening from the newly built AL HAMRA TOWER and it was really nice to watch. At first, we watched it from a distance, which gave the effect of shimmering stars all over Hamra tower from the pink lights followed by blue. We then drove towards the tall tower and parked close to it, (there is an open parking area beside it) and  got out and watched for a while which was quite amazing. The huge towering building looked grand with all those lights moving across the tower which is 1,354 feet high. It has 77 floors and the tower cost U.S. $ 950 Million. It's designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Al Hamra Tower is considered the tallest 'sculpted' tower in the world. To read more about the Hamra Tower, visit the Wikipedia link Here

My husband reminded me its 11-11-11 today! There is a lot of importance being given to numbers and special dates in different cultures all around the world. Lots of stories woven around special dates, so 11-11-11 is no exception. INTERESTING PICTURE FOR THE DAY

Can you recognize the person in the picture? Want some clues?

Well..., he was born in Germany. He enjoyed classical music and played the violin. As a little child of four or five years , he was fascinated by the magentic compass. The needle's invariable northward swing, guided by an invisible force, convinced him that there had to be "something behind things, something deeply hidden." Any further clues would uncover who he is. Anyway, it should be easy to guess. Now can you tell who he is?

VISIT TO AL KOUT MALL

The ever so pleasant a place to visit - the AL KOUT MALL in Fahaheel. Being Eid holidays, we were at the Al Kout Mall after a gap of two years and it was such a lovely feeling to be there. It doesn't matter whether you visit during the day or night, you get to enjoy totally different scenes. The advantage of visiting it when there is day light, gives you the beautiful experience of watching the blue sea, walking in inner as well as the open outer premises of the mall, watching the fountains that dance to beautiful western classical music. The have well landscaped greenery all around the outside of the Mall area. The beach is right beside the Mall, you get to enjoy the sandy beach and even have a nice picnic. As night draws, you can see the colourful lighting but then the sea wouldn't be clearly visible. What I enjoyed most was the dancing fountains - they danced to beautiful soothing music. You can watch that sitting at the open food court on the ground floor with lots of restaurants on either side. There is a tall tower - you can climb up to the top and get a marvellous view of the surroundings.  The Mall is having a promottion. If you purchase any items for K.D. 10 from participating shops, you will get to enter a draw to visit one of the Wonders of the World. Here are some pictures we took.

CHICKEN TIKKA

I borrowed this picture from my daughter's mobile uploads she had put up - Chicken Tikka stuffed with spinach, mushroom and tomatoes, which she made recently. I will have to ask her for the recipe; its her own creation. She makes great tasting food.

I AM WHAT I AM

I thought this shirt looked nice which I saw at the men's wear section at CENTERPOINT in Fahaheel. I am sure this would be available in their other outlets as well. It's from UMM Fashionwear with 'I AM WHAT I AM' printed above the label. The colours look really nice, the material is suited for autumn/winter.

SMALLEST ACT OF CARING

KUWAIT ZOO

Yesterday we were at the Kuwait Zoo. Quite a wonderful place to visit. Some of the animals take a nap in the afternoon, but if you are patient enough and return to the cage or enclosure where you couldn't see a particular animal, you could possibly see the animals you missed. So don't be disappointed. The most entertaining animals were the bears, monkeys, African elephant, deers, giraffe and chimpanzees. You know why, because, they were being fed by people (pita bread, banana, nuts, popcorn,  much against the rules that say 'not to feed the animals'), and these animals seemed pretty busy eating all they could get. The monkeys were moving up and down their cages, putting out their hands to catch the food items being thrown to them. The ducks and geese were being fed too. There are great picnic spots in the zoo premises. And the weather is just perfect to visit the zoo around this time of the year. These beautiful pictures are taken by my husband using a point and shoot camera.
