MY PHOTO FOR THE DAY - WHEN THE LEAVES HAVE SHED

Taken near Birmingham Airport (December 2012)

Sometimes it's hard to let go of certain feelings, emotions, habits, false beliefs, prejudices, fears, self doubts, clutter that do not serve any useful purpose in our lives. Trees shed their leaves in winter and wait for nature to take it's course and spring brings forth beautiful new green leaves on the trees with a renewed sense of life so majestic to see. We can learn from nature, to shed all unwanted negativities from our mind that affect our daily living. By the act of shedding or eliminating we pave way to birth healthier thoughts, new habits, improved relationships that serve us and enrich our lives.

EXERCISE TO LOOK AND FEEL GOOD

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. - Jim Ryan.

Winter is when people tend to eat more. Summer is approaching in two months and it's time to get rid of the excess weight you might have put on during winter or even through time. Motivate yourself to get started. Make exercise a part of your daily routine, an essential habit. It will make you look and feel good, improve your health and uplift your spirits.

KUWAIT BIKE SHOW 2013

On Friday, we went for the Kuwait Bike Show 2013 at Marina Crescent, Gulf Road, opposite Marina Mall.  The annual bike show is organized by Harley Davidson of Kuwait.

A variety of great looking bikes are showcased and bikes are judged under various categories.  It's a really nice show - an opportunity to see some really beautiful bikes. Saturday 26 January is the last day of the Bike Show, so don't miss it. It's from 10 am to 10 pm. Here are some pictures I took of the Bike Show.

MY PHOTOS FOR THE DAY - BABY GIRAFFE IN A CAGE

Well, its not a 'real' baby giraffe as you can see. It was a part of an exhibit at Dar Al Funoon Art Gallery.

ZIZZI RISTORANTE - ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN BIRMINGHAM

The Mail Box is a beautiful Mall located in the heart of Birmingham city center. Among a variety of restaurants at the Mail Box, is a lovely Italian restaurant, 'Zizzi Ristorante'.  It's one of my daughter's favourite restaurants she likes to frequent with her friends.  Last month, our daughter took us to Zizzi twice. And both times, I had lasagna prepared to perfection served with green salad. The lasagna was amazing. Here are some photos taken during our first visit to Zizzi.

My daughter ordered sea food

My lasagna

My husband ordered rice with shrimp, squid, fisha and vegetables

The most wonderful tasting Tiramisu I had...( As per my self imposed food restrictions, I had to suffice with two spoons, while  they had the rest)

MANGO MILK

Milk is excellent for health. I usually have the fresh milk from Almarai. But sometimes, I can't help picking up their Mango Milk. It just tastes absolutely divine. In a calorie controlled diet, I am able to fit in mango milk whenever I feel like having, which is probably just twice or thrice a month.  My husband got curious and now he likes it too.

CHRIS BYARS JAZZ QUARTET - CONCERT AT KUWAIT NATIONAL MUSEUM THEATER

As a part of the ongoing 19th Qurain Cultural Festival, the National Council for Culture Arts and Letters and U.S. Embassy organized a beautiful jazz concert on Tuesday 22 January, at the National Museum theater. The quartet was led by Chris Byars on saxophone, accompanied by Ari Roland (cello), Zaid Nasser (saxophone) and Keith Balla (drums). These jazz artists are based in New York  and were invited to perform in Kuwait. We had attended their concert last year and it was huge success. We enjoyed their concert yesterday. Every song they played was fabulous and I think they got the audience spell bound. To me,  jazz music from the saxophone has an alluring and captivating effect, so magical, that just has to be experienced. Loved the selection of songs and their amazing rendering. Here are two photos I took at the concert yesterday.

HANDICRAFT EXHIBITION AT KUWAIT NATIONAL MUSEUM

There is a nice Handicraft and textile Exhibition being held at the Kuwait National Museum on the ground floor of the theater premises. They are UNESCO award winning works from Asia and Asia Pacific. If you like artifacts and handicrafts, you will certainly enjoy the exhibition. Here are some photos of the exhibits I took yesterday.
