WHY CRASH DIETS ARE BAD FOR YOU

Crash diets may seem full of promises. Crash diets give quick weight loss results due to their extremely low calorie intake, but they temporary,  as they require you to skip meals or go on extremely low calories, hardly eat anything.  A fad diet which is also a crash diet, would require you to eat only one or few items resulting in extremely low calorie intake. It weakens your body and the functioning of your organs leading you to starvation.

Deprivation of essential nutrients increases the brain’s natural chemicals that cause hunger and that’s the end of the crash diet or fad diet. And you start to crave for certain food and might give in to overeating and indulgence. This is a signal that you are not getting sufficient calories or food intake. Choose to eat healthy, from all important food groups. Your body has been programed to make you hungry as a survival mechanism. Have 3 nutritious meals  and 2 healthy snacks like fruits. Avoid too much salt, sugar and fat. Breakfast is truly essential for you and don’t skip it. It isn't that you don't have the will power to diet. Your body has been programmed to make you hungry as a survival mechanism.

How to get your brain and body to cooperate during dieting?

You should not be on a less than 1000 calorie diet. The safest being a 1200 calorie diet. If you just have a few pounds to lose, you can go on a 1000 calorie diet. If its a long term weight loss plan, it's preferable to go on a 1200 calorie diet. Include food from all the groups, so that way, you won’t be depriving yourself of essential nourishment and your brain and body would be satisfied and cooperate towards dieting. Exercise inorder to raise metabolism and decrease hunger. There is no short cut. Crash diets crash in no time, making you gain back the whatever weight you lost. So don’t even bother crash dieting. A gradual weight loss will last and help you maintain the weight.
