NOVAK DJOKOVIC WINS 2011 WIMBLEDON MEN'S SINGLES TITLE

24 year old, Novak Djokovic of Serbia won his first Wimbledon Men's Singles Tennis championship on Sunday 3rd July, defeating Spain's Rafael Nadal in an intense game. He is now in the No. 1 spot in Tennis. Before the match began, the public would have somewhere felt in their heart that Rafael Nadal would win the match. Novak Djokovic appeared extremely confident and very much in control and from the very outset, appeared all set to take on Rafael Nadal. We were watching the match on T.V. and it was amazing feat put by Novak Djokovic. After winning the game, when asked about the match and his victory, and what he felt, Novak was in a loss for words for a moment. Novak said, 'This is the best day of the my life. I can't believe...I feel I am in a dream'. After winning, apart from lying on the ground for a minute, he squatted, kissed the grass and actually ate a piece of the turf. 'I felt like an animal; I wanted to see how it tastes,' Novak said. 'It tastes good.'

Novak later went on to say, 'I managed to achieve a lifetime goal and make my dream come true, all in three days. It's just an incredible feeling that I'm never going to forget'.  He expressed his desire to return to Wimbledon and play many more matches. One of the interesting things after winning, was how Novak kept holding his trophy, hugging and kissing it, similar to how a new father would cuddle and hold a new born baby!

Novak Djokovic's mother Dijana, told how her son announced at the age of 7 that he wanted some day to win Wimbledon. “Getting a trophy at Wimbledon, that’s why he started to play tennis,” she said.
