MODERN TOILET RESTAURANT

Modern Toilet Restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan is rather strange yet unique when it comes to interiors, decor and serving ware. Unlike the conventional and modern restaurants we know of, the 2800 sq. ft. Modern Toilet Restaurant in Xi Men Ding, located in a popular shopping area has it's interiors done up using bathroom and toilet design theme. The walls are all tiled like bathrooms and decorated with shower heads and seating in the restaurant is on western styled toilets. Bathtubs and sink are turned into tables with glass laid on top of them. And what about the food? Well, that's served in toilet shaped dishes !!! What do customers feel? They love the idea and they enjoy visiting the restaurant, which is so popular that there are now 12 Modern Toilet restaurants in Taiwan and Hong Kong. They are still expanding with plans to open branches in Macau and Kuala Lumpur.

Wang Zi-Wei, an ex-banker who is the owner of Modern Toilet Restaurant says that his inspiration for the bathroom/toilet themed restaurant came from a robot character from a Japanese cartoon Dr. Slump who loved to "play with poop and swirl it on a stick." Now how about that?

What kind of dishes are used for serving food?
* Western style toilet bowl for curry, meat and hot pot dishes
* Bath tub shaped dishes for other kinds of food
* Toilet lid shaped dish for pasta
* Squat toilet shaped dish for side dishes and icecream
