WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? EAT FROM A RED PLATE

A recent study by German and Swiss researchers state that people ate and drank far less by cutting their food intake by 40 percent when they ate from a red plate. Researchers say that the color red encourage people to eat or snack less as red is generally associated with 'stop, alert and danger signals' in our everyday lives. Color red can induce feelings of 'stop' or 'prohibition' outside their conscious awareness and influence people to eat less.

In a study where 41 male students were asked to drink tea from cups marked with red or blue labels, they drank 44 percent less from cups with red labels. As a part of the study, 10 pretzels were given to each of 109 people on red, blue and white plates. Surprisingly, those with a red plate ate fewer pretzels.
