PHOTOS OF PERFORMANCE PARKOUR BY THE URBAN PLAYGROUND UPG AT MARINA CRESCENT

Last Saturday, we headed for Marina Crescent to see the performance parkour by Urban Playground - UPG team from UK. The show was organized by the British Council in partnership with LOYAC, as a part of the 'Great British Week'. The performance parkour was held over two days on Friday 14 March and Saturday 15 March with 3 shows on both the days. The Urban Playground Team blend authentic French “Art du deplacement” with urban and contemporary dance which they have termed Performance Parkour.

We watched two shows, the first one at 1 pm and the next at 4pm. Each show lasted half an hour. Although the performers made it look effortless, a lot of stamina, dexterity, flexibility, strength and practise is required to do this.  We enjoyed UPG's captivating and stunning performance with  gravity defying spins and rapid vaults. The show was called 'Inner City' with story line centered around the life of some unhappy staff in a corporate office and how they interact with each other.

The young Parkour enthusiasts from LOYAC were trained over 4 days by the UPG team and they gave a short performance as well. It  was quite good considering they are beginners.
