MY PHOTO FOR THE DAY - I FOUND SOMETHING

I had to be patient to get a shot of of this busy monkey as he moved so swiftly amid the bushes and plants. And lo, he suddenly became still as if to say, 'I found something'.

Photo taken at Sculpture zone, Thenmala Eco touristic park in Quilon, Kerala, India

Some interesting fun facts on monkeys

* There are about 264 species of monkeys!

* Quite human like, monkeys communicate using vocal sounds, facial expressions, and body movements.

*Grinning or pulling the lip is a sign of aggression in monkeys, along with yawning, head bobbing, and jerking the head and shoulders forward.

* Monkeys spend a great deal of time by grooming each other. That's how they express affection and make peace with others.

* A group of monkeys is called a "troop".

* Howler monkeys are the noisiest monkeys. Their howls can be heard for about two miles in the forest and almost three miles in an open area.

* The smallest monkeys are about 6 inches long and 4 ounces. The largest ones can be around 3 feet long and weigh up to 77 pounds !.

*Monkeys are great swimmers; though they don't like to be in the water

MY PHOTO FOR THE DAY - A WOW MOMENT

We all have are 'wow' moments. We should experience them more often, perhaps everyday. Even the simplest things in life can be turned into a 'wow' moment. You don't have to wait for something big to happen to feel that beautiful sense of joy or excitement. I enjoyed taking this picture of this little boy's exciting moment.

7 MARKET HAUNTED GARDEN EXPERIENCE

After we left from Qout Market on Saturday evening, my friend and I headed for the 7 Market Haunted garden at the KIPCO tower 4th floor roof top car park. I liked the halloween theme used for decorating the garden roof top with glowing pumpkins, bats and cobwebs. Lots of vendors with beautifully decorated tables displayed a variety of food, snacks, pastries and sweets, besides other vendors with jewelry and clothes. I wasn't interested in a heavy dinner, so I bought Turkish chicken shawarma. There was DJ and nice music. We stayed back for about an hour.

There was plenty of seating arrangements. After going around all the stalls and tables and taking  photos, we just sat back and relaxed in the beautiful weather for a while.

Here are some photos from the event

SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT QOUT MARKET

My friend and I had a nice time at the Qout Market on Saturday. The weather was fantastic. There were definitely more vendors, more stalls, more home made food to personal care products. What else - artisan products, fresh produce, crafts, painting, plants, flowers, beverages, jams, pickles, breads, cookies, savouries, snacks, pastries, sweets, decorative articles and much more.

Compared to their past events, most of the items were being sold at an exorbitant price. What's fascinating is the amazing artistic display by the vendors. Quite a visual and gastronomic treat. There was a huge turnover of visitors. For the first time, I tried 'palm juice'. It tasted really good, so I bought a bottle. The stall selling freshly made 'wheat grass' juice in tiny bottles had quite a crowd as the vendor explained how wheat grass juice is a highly nourishing. Well, I hope to try it some time. I bought a small hand made lavender soap from an Irish lady. Lavender has calming properties. She has a lavender farm in Ireland and the flowers are used to extract essential oils, which are added to make the soap along with the dried lavender buds.

Some of the private farms displayed their produce - lovely organic fruits and vegetables and honey. Do you know there is bee keeping and honey cultivation in Kuwait by private farmers?. Two vendors had displayed cidar honey gathered from their bee farm. I got to sample home grown pomegranate, which was light red in color and a bit sour. A farmer told me he grows grapes in his farm and he expects to open his farm for the public, after two months. Well I hope so really!. I am very interested to see a vineyard in Kuwait. My friend and I had 'karak chai' infused with cardamom, ginger and saffron before we left. Perfect soothing tea during this beautiful weather which I replicated at home on Sunday evening !

Qout Market is held on the first Saturday of every month at Arraya Center roof top car park. So if you haven't been to Qout Market yet, be sure to visit it  on the first Saturday in December. Now here are plenty of photos for you to enjoy.
