CHINA'S NEW SKYSCRAPER - LONGXI INTERNATIONAL HOTEL

LONGXI INTERNATIONAL HOTEL, China's new sky scraper  in Huaxi Village, Jiangsu Province opened to guests on Saturday October 8. It commerated with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Huaxi Village. The skyscraper is 74 story, 328 metres high (1076 feet) and it is the 15th highest skyscraper in the world. It cost 3 billion yuan (U.S.$ 470 million) and was partly financed by the villagers with an investment of 10 million yuan.  The hotel has an exhibition hall, revolving restaurant, roof top swimming pool and gardens. An Ox made of a ton of gold is displayed on the 60th floor. A once improvished farming village in the 1950's, Huaxi is China's richest village today.

Over the past 40 years since the 1960's, under the leadership of Wu Rengbao, Huaxi villagers spread the slogan of striving and co-working, and worked hard at establishing the socialistic new village, which is now known as China's No. 1 Village and a beautiful tourist destination. Currently all the villagers live in their own high ranked villas and each family owns 1 to 3 automobiles.
