AUGUST 15 - INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDIA


Wishing all Indians residing all over the world, a very Happy Independence Day!
Independence Day of INDIA is celebrated on August 15, to commemorate its independence from British rule and India's  birth as a sovereign nation in 1947. The day is a national holiday.  All over India, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted. The main event takes place in Delhi, the captial of India, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers  a nationally televised speech. His speech  highlighted the achievements of the government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle.

In Kuwait: On the occasion of the Independence Day of India, a Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the Indian Embassy premises at 7am today. The flag hoisting was followed by the reading of the message of the Honorable President of India and singing of patriotic songs.
