HAPPY LIBERATION DAY KUWAIT - 25TH ANNIVERSARY

It has been a full month of festivities, with the annual Hala  February shopping festival, open outdoor markets, exhibitions, cultural and musical events, entertainment shows for families, and much more, culminating in the celebration of National day on 25th February and Liberation Day on  26th February with parades and airshows.

Today Kuwait celebrates the 25th anniversary of Liberation Day. Yes, it's been 25 years since Kuwait was liberated from the six month Iraqi invasion and occupation. I still remember that day filled with relief and joy as we along with hundreds of others stood cheering as the coalition forces in their vehicles paraded through Gulf road celebrating victory, the end of Gulf war and the liberation of Kuwait via Operation Desert Storm.

Wishing the people of Kuwait a very happy Liberation day.

LONGEST FLAG IN THE WORLD - KUWAIT FLAG MAKES GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

'Our Flag Unites Us' show held at Mina Abdulla, street 230 on a windy yet lovely afternoon of 12 February, was a special event. The air show had a fantastic display of aerobatics by  remote control planes emphasizing their flying skills to a delightful audience.  It was a well organized public event. A huge number of families had turned up for the event. Plenty of seating arrangement was made for visitors facing the runway in a long stretch.  It was quite nice to see the remote control planes take off into the sky; the jet engines with their trail of smoke during aerobatics causing quite a visual treat. Remote control helicopters appeared like little dragonflies during aerobatic feats high up in the air. Visitors were served gahwa, black tea, chocolates and water during the show. Few food stalls were selling  snacks, juices and eatables.

The finale was the best part of the show where the longest flag in world - the Kuwait flag was pulled by a big  remote control plane that took off from the ground and into the sky in the presence of Guinness Wold Record committee. The long flag made pretty shapes, twirling and dancing in the wind along with the flight path of the plane. It was beautiful to watch. And yes of course, the Kuwait flag made a Guinness World Record as being the longest flag in the world.

HAPPY NATIONAL AND LIBERATION DAY

The past week has been quite exciting. There has been so many events that I wished to attend. I managed to attend quite a many. Thanks to my husband finding time and patience to make that possible. How sweet! The 50-20-5 celebrations mean so much so many reasons. I love this country and everything positive it has given me and taught me.  The light show, lazer show and the FIREWORKS, of Friday 25th February commemorating the National Day was one of  the most spectacular event I ever witnessed. Will hold that experience close to my heart.

Yesterday, after a lot of self persuasion and days of talking myself into being disciplined, I FINALLY started my diet yesterday. Thankyou  Kuwait, thankyou fireworks...you lit a fire within me...don't let it extinguish.
