MAN WHO CAN READ IN THE DARK

Liu Chaoxing, a farmer in Henan Province Central China, can read in the dark which made the villagers think that he was a extraordinary man. An ophthalmologist tested Liu’s night-vision ability by placing several villagers,  and Liu in a room, and the ophthalmologist turned off the light. No one could read a word on the newspaper except Liu, who was able to read the news on the newspaper,  though slower than under normal light, he could however, read fluent. Apart from Liu's both eyes having high myopia, there was nothing extradordinary about them.

In a special test to determine Liu's ability of distinguishing objects under dark environment, it was found that in the begining when Liu entered into a dark room, he could see nothing, like other normal people. After getting used to darkness, he could gradually distinguish objects,  higher than normal people. It was concluded that Liu’s night-vision ability was formed in the process of slow adaptation to the dark environment he lived in. The human body being very intelligent, when a function of the body encounters defects, the other parts of the body may transfer some functions that will help us to adapt new environment.
