STAR WARS DARTH VADER AN AGING VILLAIN

If you've seen the first Star Wars of the 1977, then you might remember how everyone looked like back then. Have you wondered about the horror villain Darth Vader? What would the once feared character look like now? Italian commercial photographer Federico Chiesa, developed a series of aging horror stars from cult films,  under the title 'Horror Vacui' , and one of it is Darth Vader from Star Wars, portrayed to live alone and lonely in the twilight of of his life. This creation was with assistance from Carolina Trotta for makeup, styling and special effects.

COLORS FOR SPRING SEASON 2012

Did you notice when you go into the malls, there are shops displaying orange colored outfits, some of them really bright orange and of course, even soft shades of orange. Do you know why? That's because orange is one of the colors for the spring 2012. And I think I really like it. May be it's because I love eating oranges almost every day and I am so used to the beauty of the color. It's a pretty outrageous color when it comes to wearing a bright orange colored top or trouser. Let's now look at rest of colors for spring/summer 2012.

The Pantene Color Institute shared the upcoming color trends for Spring 2012 wardrobe.

We Connect Fashion reported the following beautiful color trend for Spring 2012 according to Fashion Snoop and Color Trend Report.

So what's your favourite color from both the colour trend charts? There has to be definitely more than one. Some of the colors look fabulous, don't you think?.

WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? EAT FROM A RED PLATE

A recent study by German and Swiss researchers state that people ate and drank far less by cutting their food intake by 40 percent when they ate from a red plate. Researchers say that the color red encourage people to eat or snack less as red is generally associated with 'stop, alert and danger signals' in our everyday lives. Color red can induce feelings of 'stop' or 'prohibition' outside their conscious awareness and influence people to eat less.

In a study where 41 male students were asked to drink tea from cups marked with red or blue labels, they drank 44 percent less from cups with red labels. As a part of the study, 10 pretzels were given to each of 109 people on red, blue and white plates. Surprisingly, those with a red plate ate fewer pretzels.

MODERN TOILET RESTAURANT

Modern Toilet Restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan is rather strange yet unique when it comes to interiors, decor and serving ware. Unlike the conventional and modern restaurants we know of, the 2800 sq. ft. Modern Toilet Restaurant in Xi Men Ding, located in a popular shopping area has it's interiors done up using bathroom and toilet design theme. The walls are all tiled like bathrooms and decorated with shower heads and seating in the restaurant is on western styled toilets. Bathtubs and sink are turned into tables with glass laid on top of them. And what about the food? Well, that's served in toilet shaped dishes !!! What do customers feel? They love the idea and they enjoy visiting the restaurant, which is so popular that there are now 12 Modern Toilet restaurants in Taiwan and Hong Kong. They are still expanding with plans to open branches in Macau and Kuala Lumpur.

Wang Zi-Wei, an ex-banker who is the owner of Modern Toilet Restaurant says that his inspiration for the bathroom/toilet themed restaurant came from a robot character from a Japanese cartoon Dr. Slump who loved to "play with poop and swirl it on a stick." Now how about that?

What kind of dishes are used for serving food?
* Western style toilet bowl for curry, meat and hot pot dishes
* Bath tub shaped dishes for other kinds of food
* Toilet lid shaped dish for pasta
* Squat toilet shaped dish for side dishes and icecream

THE KINDNESS OF SPEECH

MY PICTURE FOR THE DAY - BEAUTY OF FLOWERS

I wish I could share every photograph of flowers I have taken at Ahmadi last Saturday. I saw an amazing garden full of different varieties of flowers in a myriad of colors. The weather was so beautiful, just perfect. It made me realize Spring has arrived. Sad part is spring is pretty short lived here.  In a country, where flowers are not found in plenty, except in the Flower shops, and certain road side landscape, it's fills you up with a sense of joy and awe when you are surrounded by the beauty of flowers.  I was enamoured by the lovely road side landscape with flowers,  that look absolutely lovely when you drive through Ahmadi. To enjoy a different sort of relaxing time away from high rise buildings and mall visits, it's quite rejuvenating to drive around Ahmadi, park your car somewhere, just walk around the beautiful landscaped areas and walkways. There are benches to sit as well.   You should make your visit much before sunset and hang around till the sun sets, so you can enjoy the daylight scene, the flowers, the greenery and as well as enjoy the evening scene and the beautiful lights that come up close to sunset. Here is a photo that I took, which I  really liked. I'll put up rest of the good ones in my upcoming posts.

SPRING BY ANTONIO VIVALDI FROM FOUR SEASONS

Antonio Vivaldi is recognized as one of the world's greatest Baroque composers. He was born in Venice on 4 March 1678 and passed away on 27 July 1741. Vivaldi was a priest and a violinist. He was nicknamed 'il Prete Rosso' meaning The Red Priest, because of his red hair. It was a fashion those days for men to wear white powdered wigs, so in this picture, his red hair is not visible. Vivaldi was the oldest of 9 children in his family and learnt violin from his father, Giovanni Battista, a barber turned professional violinist. Vivaldi wrote 40 operas and 200 concertos for violin. During his later years, he traveled extensively giving concerts. Vivaldi battled bronchial ashtma throughout his life. 'The Four Seasons', a series of four violin concerti,  composed by Vivaldi, when he was 45 years old in 1723, is timeless and will always remain as one of his best work. Vivaldi met opera singer, Anna Giraud in 1720 and she lived with him till his death. He maintained that Anna Giraud was no more than a good friend and housekeeper.

Now that spring is in the air, listen and enjoy this vibrant, joyful and beautiful composition by Vivaldi 'Spring' (from his work The Four Seasons)

DOG'S DINNER TIME

MODEL WHO LOOKS LIKE AN ALIEN

Do some people hold such a misguided sense of beauty, to go the extent of changing one's face through plastic surgery to look like an alien creature from one of those science fiction movies?. Dina Leopard, a Chinese model wants to look different with slender pointed chin and unusually large eyes. Her pictures have sent a wave or controversy in China and Japan, after they were put up in the Chinese bulletin board site tt.mop.com.
