AGE OF ARROGANCE

I saw this interesting sculpture titled 'Age of Arrogance' displayed as an exhibit at the 'PEWABIC POTTERY', Detroit, Michigan. I will be putting up lots of pictures of beautiful pottery and ceramic work and sculptures taken at Pewabic Pottery soon.

INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE EXHIBITION 2011 GERMANY

The spectacular Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 is taking place in Germany. It is one of the biggest motor show in the world held every year (one year will see passenger cars in Frankfurt and the following year would have commercial vehicles at Hannover). The motor show commenced on September 13 and will continue till September 25.

DETROIT - MICHIGAN (U.S.)

On 22nd August, we flew from Kuwait to Heathrow (London), then boarded our connecting flight to Chicago after a short period in transit at Heathrow. Chicago being our port of entry, we had to fill in the customs declaration form and the I-20 form, being a vistior in the U.S. The I-20 form will be stapled next to your U.S. visit visa page in your passport and when you return to your country after your visit, the customs or airlines authority will remove it and keep it as a proof you leaving the U.S.. Whenever you travel to U.S., be sure you fill both the forms (usually handed over to you by the flight crew) or fill the forms as soon as you arrive at the port of entry in U.S. The completed forms will be inspected by Customs/Immigration Officer, along with your passport and you would be asked a few general questions. You might even have to identify your baggage and might even have to open it, if asked before it is sent to your connecting flight. Well, rules can always change, but its absolutely important, to update yourself and be aware of all the custom rules related to your travel and baggage, prior to your travel. U.S. airport /customs requires passengers to keep their baggage closed but unlocked, so in case they need to inspect, its easy for them to do so. Nothing to worry...they are just security rules travellers are required to follow.

We had to sort of hurry up at Chicago airport and we had a connecting flight to Detroit in a short gap. We reached Detroit and the airport procedures got over quick. My husband had rented car from ALAMO Car rentals near the Detroit airport. We were taken to their offices from the airport; ALAMO's procedures were quick and services excellent. We were asked to choose a car and then we drove to our son's University accomodation premises. It was past midnight. Our son was waiting outside the building for us. The most beautiful memory of my son's happiness on seeing us is still fresh in my mind. It was lovely reunion after one year.

DRAMA QUEEN OR DRAMA KING

What is really a Drama Queen?

For certain people, life's setbacks can trigger irrational and explosive emotional outbursts. 'Drama Queen' or 'Drama King' is a reference to someone with a demanding or overbearing personality who tends to overreact to minor incidents, sometimes quite purposely as they do enjoy this sort of eccentric behaviour and they are quite certain to get away with it. Drama Queens and Kings are big storytellers too, whose tall tales can be...well, exaggerating. When a Drama Queen or King starts a conversation, its only one sided, where they expect everyone to listen to them talk uniterrupted!

Strangely, though, they can be quite normal and their personality under control amidst people they can't act this way with. Does this post remind you of someone?..How would you deal with a Drama Queen or King?

1) By staying away

2) Ignore them

3) Tolerate silently because he or she happens to be ..umm.. an integral part of your life (parent, spouse, child or best friend)

4) Drama Queen, King? Oh I don't let such people bother me...just accept people as they are.

MISS UNIVERSE 2011 LEILA LOPES

The Miss Universe 2011 competition started off with 89 participants from all around the world in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Miss Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned Miss Universe 2011. Lopes is a 23 year old business student in UK. She is 5 ft, 10.5 inches tall.

To an interview question, Miss Universe Leila Lopes said she never had any cosmetic surgery of any kind and her smile was the best weapon in the competition. 'Thank God, I am very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing. I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have accepted many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow them for the rest of my life', expressed Lopes.

"I've worked with various social causes. I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV. I work to protect the elderly and I have to do everything that my country needs," she said. "I think now as Miss Universe I will be able to do much more."

Three tips for beauty from Leila Lopes is:

1. Get a lot of sleep,

2. Use sun block even when it's not sunny

3. Drink lots of water.
