The 84th Academy Awards took place yesterday, Sunday Feburary 26, 2012 at Hollywood and Highland Center in California. Here is the list of the lucky winners of  one the most prestigious awards in U.S. film industry. Movies 'The Artist' and 'Hugo' each won five awards. The Academy Awards ceremony was hosted by Billy Crystal and directed by Brian Grazer.

Best director - Michel Hazavanicius, The Artist

Best foreign language film - A Separation 
Best animated film - Rango
Best cinematography - Robert Richardson (movie Hugo)
Best art direction - Hugo
Best costume design - The Artist
Best make up - The Iron Lady
Best film editing - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Best sound editing - Hugo
Best sound mixing - Hugo
Best documentary feature - Undefeated
Best visual effects - Hugo
Best original score - Ludovic Bource, The Artist
Best song - Man or Muppet, The Muppets
Best adapted screenplay - Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, and Jim Rash, The Descendants
Best original screenplay - Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris
Best short live action - The Shore
Best short documentary - Saving Face
Best animated short - The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore
