Every year, Commonwealth Day, UK's largest multi-faith celebration, is observed on the second Monday in March. This year, it is being celebrated today, March 12. Each year Commonwealth Day takes a different theme. In 2012, the theme is 'Connecting Cultures'. Celebration of diversity as well as promoting international cooperation aiming to improve the lives of citizens in Commonwealth countries was the highlight. The British Commonwealth consists of 54 independent states.
Commonwealth Day is always observed by a multi-faith service in Westminster Abbey in London. At the service, the Queen gave a speech, and a special song 'Stronger as One' was premiered today by soprano Laura Wright, followed by thrilling mix of world music, dance and personal testimonies.
